In the studio

Teacher for a day

Our Director of Video, Shea, was invited by NIDA for the day to talk through the role of a Hair and Makeup Artist to a class of eager students. Joined by Junior Producer, Lauren, Shea also talked through the role of a Video Director, the best ways to collaborate with other departments, such as strategists, copywriters and designers throughout the creative process, as well as how lighting and composition can drastically alter a talent’s look.

They say the best way to learn is by doing, and Shea thought it was only fair to put the students’ newfound knowledge into practice. So he ended his class with a creative challenge. Students had to get into groups and apply a full face of makeup that delivers a fresh, natural look to one member of their group, all before putting their handiwork to the ultimate test under a 4K microscope.

AGDA finalist nomination

We received some exciting news that our rebrand for Remote Staff was nominated as a finalist for the 2022 AGDA awards under the Brand Identity category. Remote Staff is a remote recruitment platform, helping entrepreneurs and small businesses grow faster by connecting them with skilled remote talent from the Philippines. The brand needed to evolve on two fronts – retain and continue to grow their talent pools of contractors and better articulate the value they bring as a brand to their clients.

Coupled with a vibrant palette, our solution was to convey the idea of Remote Staff as the ‘missing piece’ that small businesses need to continue growing. This started with the new logomark, stemming from the idea that Remote Staff bring two worlds together by seamlessly merging the right client with the right contractor, working with circles that reflect two worlds and two parties. When layered on top of each other, the circles create an interesting intersection in the middle – reflective of the connection Remote Staff create.

We’re pretty proud of this one. Check out the full case study here.

Baby Chellists

Our team has grown a lot this year, and we are particularly excited to introduce you to our two smallest members, the baby Chellists of ’22.

Earlier this year, our Managing Director, Lindsay, had a beautiful little girl, Rumi. Lindsay has been enjoying some mat leave with the newest addition to her family, as well as some quality time with her eldest, Zi (who’s fulfilling his big brother role brilliantly).

And most recently – 1 month ago to be exact – our Account Director, Drou, welcomed her little boy, Elias (Eli), to the world. Drou is thriving as a first-time Mum, just the way we all imagined.

That’s it for this edition of In The Studio. If you’re keen to see more, check out some of our most recent work here.
