THREE TIPS TO…
Writing that blog post, you know the one.
“Keep it simple”
Listen into conversations.
Tip number one
Tell a story.
It can be your story, a friend’s, from history, a fable, or something drawn from the news. We’re drawn to the arc of tales that can insert us into an experience. For instance a story like: “My wedding cost $2000. My divorce cost $100k. Both were worth it,” outlines your thesis in a more enticing way than “Marriage is great and divorce is too”.
Tip number two
Be a contrarian.
Fight your instinct, take the less obvious view and see what insights are there. You don’t even have to write from that perspective, but once you consider it, you can enrich your idea and acknowledge the countering view.
Think about your audience.
Tip number three
Offer something practical.
Articulate a tip or lesson that can be applied in everyday life. There’s so much content in the world to shape our perception, but the most inspiring stuff shapes our behaviour too.
